Description:

Dating back to the days of the Kingdom of Hawaii, this stately structure was originally built out of lava rock. The palace housed more Hawaiian royalty than any other residence on the islands. Unfortunately, it fell into serious disrepair in 1924, the grounds overrun by plants. Although the museum today has had to recreate the structure and the interior, it is true to its glory days in the late 1800s. Palace admission is $10 for most people with daily guided tours from 10 AM to 1 PM. It's open daily within limited daytime hours but closed on major holidays.
