The plantation-style estate was built in 1838, the vacation home of Hawaiian royalty. Made of lava rock, the home is now a museum, showcasing artifacts and Victorian antiques once owned by King Kalākaua and Queen Kapi‘olani. To make your visit extra special plan it for the one Sunday of the month when Hawaiian culture is celebrated on the palace lawn. However, the grounds are open seven days a week with guided tours offered for an extra fee.
