The Kilauea Caverns of Fire is a lava tube cavern tour touted as "The # 1 Adventure Tour on the Big Island" for ages five and up. The four caves offer tours that range from safe and easy to long and adventurous. You'll see several natural wonders like stalactites, stalagmites, and flowstone. These lava tubes form one spectacular cave system. This wonder of nature has been filmed by institutions like National Geographic and networks worldwide. Be sure to bring a jacket and a pair of non-slip shoes. The cave is rather chilly and some areas are wet and slippery.
Tours must be set up in advance by reservation and the two-hour tour explores both the regular and adventure tunnel. (Both are worth seeing but not recommended for the physically impaired.) The guides are knowledgeable and friendly.
