Mauna Loa Lookout

Following the single narrow lane Mauna Loa Road to its end, leading to the Mauna Loa Lookout which delivers one with a view of the Kīlauea volcano, its ancient lava flows, and the distant ocean on clear days. The lookout is high at 6,662 feet and is surrounded by woodlands. The drive up to the lookout on this unpaved 11-mile road is stunning, with lush green foliage and singing birds. At the top, you'll find a paved parking lot (limited to only a few cars, so plan accordingly), a pit toilet, and picnic tables. The sunsets at the Mauna Loa Lookout are simply stunning and are a photo opportunity for sure.
