Description:
This giant whale of a stone lies in front of the Hilo Library. It is the stuff of legends in Hawaiian folklore akin to the Arthurian legend to the British. It weights approximately 3.5 tons but whoever can flip it over would be the leader of the united islands. Although it seems to be an impossible feat, Kamehameha did exactly this. He went on to become the first ruler of the Kingdom of Hawaii, reigning from 1782 to 1819.
