Description:

Initially built as a shipping pier for transporting taro, sugar, and rice (the area’s biggest cash crops), Hanalei Pier is now a popular spot for both locals and tourists to take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the gorgeous view of the mountains, or to set up a pole for a relaxing spot of pier fishing. Locals also rave about the tasty tacos served up at the Pat’s Taqueria food truck located in the parking lot, so if you spot it, make sure to grab a bite. One last point of interest: Hanalei Pier was also featured prominently in the 1958 film version of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s classic musical, South Pacific.
