To some the island of Kauai is a spiritual experience, the island itself being a breath of fresh air to mind, body, and spirit which is why the Kaua'i Hindu Monastery (aka Kaua'i Aadheenam) has been mesmerizing diverse ethnicities for decades. A mere 35-40 minutes from Kukui'ula located in the back mountains of Kapa'a, visitors arrive in droves to pay homage to this serene spiritual destination. Whether to meditate under the famed banyan tree or to sightsee, you'll not regret the visit.
A 700-pound rare quartz crystal known as a Spathika Sivalinga and estimated to be around 50 million years old is housed within the temple. The Monastery is home to 22 monks from five different regions. The temple is open daily, but please dress appropriately or temporary sarongs are available.
