Description:

On Kauai's north shore you'll find a nature preserve and botanical garden spanning 17 acres and 985 acres of preserve. The Limahuli Garden includes a wide range of native and Polynesian plants and taro terraces (lo'i kalo) dating back to the island's early Polynesian arrivals. This region, occasionally known as Bali Ha'i, was used in the 1958 film "South Pacific." The movie was filmed on location in the area. An admission fee is charged for the Limahuli Garden which is open to visitors. The preserve, however, is not available to the public.
