Description:
Two manmade pools, an inner and outer section, are fed directly from the ocean, but protected by huge boulders placed side-by-side in a semi-circle. The boulders act as a breaker, protecting swimmers from the high and turbulent surf. The naturally occurring sandy floor is shallow, making it one of the safest swimming sites. If you're looking for some history after your swim, head north to Hikinaakala Heiau, a Hawaiian temple that dates back to 800 AD or the Hauola, a sanctuary for Hawaiians who had done something forbidden.
