Mahaulepu Beach

This remote, lesser-visited beach is characterized as much by its rugged conditions as well as by its tropical beauty. At Mahaulepu, both winds and currents are especially strong, making it an extremely popular spot for kite surfing and windsurfing, but its rough waters and razor sharp coral reefs make it less friendly to snorkelers and swimmers (except during times of extreme calm, which is usually during the winter months). The beautiful landscape and views at Mahaulepu—considered sacred land to both ancient and modern-day native Hawaiians—makes it the ideal location for photographers, hikers, as well as wedding planners.
