The Na 'Aina Kai ("Lands by the Sea") Botanical Gardens, Sculpture Park, and Hardwood Plantation's is the creation of Joyce and Ed Doty, the founders of this 200-acre property. They realized this horticultural and artistic dream because of their powerful devotion to the land and the people of the tropics. There are 13 gardens such as the International Desert Garden and The Wild Forest Garden, a hardwood plantation (110 acres), meadow, canyon, and beach, as well as more than 200 bronze sculptures scattered throughout the estate in places like the Navajo Compound and Alaskan Athabaskan Village. You'll also see a Poinciana Maze with hedge, plants, topiary, and sculptures encased by a lava rock wall, Shower Tree Park & Ka'ula Lagoon with flowers, trees, waterfall, and even a Japanese-style teahouse. For children, there's the "Under the Rainbow" Children's Garden with slides, pools, bridges, and tunnels. The Na 'Aina Kai Botanical Gardens are a unique experience with a courteous staff. The surroundings are beyond beautiful, and yes, there's a gift shop on the premises with many excellent souvenirs!
