To see an incredible panoramic view with a small island in the distance head to this lookout. The island of Niihau is 17 miles west of Kauai, often called the "Forbidden Island" because it can be difficult to access. On a clear day you can see the island beneath a layer of puffy clouds. Take Highway 50 west from Hanapepe to Highway 550 at Mile Marker #23 past Waimea. Turn right on 550 (Waimea Canyon Road). The lookout is near Mile Marker #13.
