Hanapepe Swinging Bridge

True to its name, the 100-year-old Swinging Bridge in old Hanapepe Town does in fact gently rock from side to side when people cross over it to get to the other side of river. However, have no fear—this suspension bridge is a trustworthy piece of engineering, having been further reinforced after Hurricane Iniki hit the isle, and locals safely use it to get to and fro on a daily basis. Still, there’s something thrilling about walking across a bridge that moves beneath your feet, so you don’t want to miss the chance to cross it if you’re in the area. We recommend coming on a Friday night so you can also check out Hanapepe’s Friday Night Art Walk that takes place along the bridge’s path.
