Molokini Crater

Saves: 9

This partially submerged volcanic crater which forms a small, crescent-shaped islet is a safe haven for wild sea animals and birds. The eruption that caused the crater probably occurred over 200,000 years ago. Archaeologists uncovered evidence of early Hawaiians visiting the crater island to fish and hunt for seabirds. Activities in and around the crater are restricted in order to prevent ecological harm, but there are some companies that provide boating and diving tours.
