Olivine Pools

The Olivine Pools got their name from the popular guidebook Maui Revealed, a publication that almost single-handedly made these once seldom-visited tidepools the popular attraction they are today. Though a very pretty sight and alive with small sea critters, these pools are usually visited as a mid-hike rest stop rather than as an end destination. The rugged and rocky terrain of Maui’s west coast makes the hike itself a moderately difficult one, even if sticking to the well-worn trails. That said, make sure to bring sturdy hiking shoes. Also, we strongly advise that you stay out of the pools if surf is high, as serious injuries and even drownings have been known to occur in these harmless looking waters.
