Description:
About a half-mile past mile marker 22 down the Hana Highway you'll find the Pua'a Ka'a State, Wayside Park. There you'll see a paved trail leading to a picnic area and some minor falls. More significant falls can be found a bit further upstream by way of a dirt trail, but if you decide to visit that area, be prepared for mud and use caution when crossing the viaduct. The wildlife you'll encounter on this adventure will most likely be the mongooses (imported to eliminate rats). Wild jungle fowl (chickens) also frequent the area. Pua'a Ka'a Falls also has restroom facilities and a paved parking area.
