Description:

Slaughterhouse Beach (also known as Mokule'ia Beach) is a small, charming beach hidden in Mokuleia Bay. Located in the northwest part of West Maui on Honoapiilani Highway (between Mile Markers 32 and 33), you'll discover this beach at the bottom of a cliff covered with some dense vegetation. There is a long, steep stairway constructed of concrete that leads up to a small parking lot where you can view the beach from afar. You can't miss the stairway - look for the green handrails and count the 88 steps as you ascend to the top of the stairs. Heading back down the stairs and onto a short rocky pathway to the beach unveils some beautiful cliffs and ocean scenery. During the summer months the water is calm enough for everyone of all ages and is excellent for snorkeling; however, in the winter the surf can become quite dangerous.
