USS Bowfin Submarine Museum

On December 7, 1942, exactly one year after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, the USS Bowfin submarine was launched from Portsmouth, Maine. Nicknamed “The Pearl Harbor Avenger,” the Bowfin today is permanently ported at Pearl Harbor and open for tours, giving the public a glimpse into the life of a WWII submarine crewman. Visitors can also tour a museum featuring submarine weaponry including a Poseidon C-3 missile, photos, vintage recruiting posters, intricately detailed model submarines, and many more submarine-themed artifacts. You’ll also get the chance to pay respects to the brave submariners who lost their lives during WWII at Bowfin Park’s waterfront memorial.
