Description:

Thanks to pop culture many know "Black Hawk" as the name of a military helicopter. However, the namesake was a leader and warrior of the Sauk Native American tribe. This statue takes its inspiration from the indomitable Sauk war chief although it does not resemble him physically. Instead, the imposing figure with his proud and confident stance captures the strong and steadfast spirit of Native Americans. The statue also is known as "The Eternal Indian" and was created by sculptor Lorado Taft, finished in 1911.
