Description:

Built in 1868, the Illinois State Capitol is the tallest non-skyscraper state capitol in the U.S. At 361 feet tall it even surpasses the capitol in D.C. and rises above the tallest skyscraper capitol. Needless to say, the grounds are at their greenest during the spring and summer. The interior of the building with its pink marble and intricately painted dome is gorgeous any time of year.
