The O'Gara Mine Tipple was a large coal processing facility located in the town of Muddy, IL. It was built in the early 1900s to support the coal mining industry in the area. The tipple was a massive structure that could process thousands of tons of coal per day. The coal was transported to the tipple via railcars and then sorted and processed before being loaded onto trucks for transport to power plants and other industrial facilities. Today, the tipple and the surrounding area have been reclaimed by nature and the site serves as a reminder of the region's coal mining history. (Submitted by Rachel Harrington)
