Although not as illustrious as his contemporary Frank Lloyd Wright, E.E. Roberts was responsible for many of the buildings in Oak Park as well as designing and owning Park Grove Manor. Unique features of the building include whimsical gargoyles and entrances adorned with statues of bricklaying architects. Roberts combined different architectural influences into a fanciful but elegant treatment, a purposeful and direct contrast to the stark, modernist style that Wright was famous for.
