Superman Statue

Yes, Metropolis is a fictional city in the Superman comics but it is a real city in the state of Illinois. The city capitalizes on their connection with the red-caped hero, calling itself the "Hometown of Superman." Maybe they forgot that Superman's real hometown was on the planet Krypton or that his Earth hometown was Smallville. There were huge aspirations to build a Superman theme park but an economic collapse laid waste to the plans. Still, there's a 200-foot statue of the Man of Steel about 50 yards away from his museum.
