Description:
Characterized by the grandiose rock formations, Starved Rock State Park is a wonderland of canyons, cliffs, and waterfalls. One of the most interesting formation is the Council Overhang which looks like a naturally formed amphitheater. A half shell provides shade and shelter to those who stand underneath. In 2016, it was the target of vandalism; the entire arch had been covered in graffiti. Fortunately, it has since been removed although at great cost.
