Description:
Many forget that a deep sense of morality is what led the Quakers to start and be particularly active in the Abolition movement. Levi and Catharine Coffin used this seemingly simple house to move 2,000 slaves to freedom as part of the Underground Railroad. The system the Coffins used to hide, feed, and clothe runaway slaves is quite remarkable and on display in this historical landmark.
