Description:

A rotary jail was designed so that the cell blocks were built in a circle and could rotate via a crank. Only one cell at a time was accessible via a small opening where the jailer could then let one inmate in or out. The Crawfordsville was the first rotary jail to be built and is the only operating one of its kind today.
