Fisher of Clams Statue

When you think of Iowa, seafood isn't the first industry that comes to mind. However, with the Mississippi River making up the entire eastern border of the state, clams provided a small but important part of the economy in some of the towns that were on the river. The oversized statue, standing over 23 feet tall, serves to remind or to educate people that clamming is a part of Muscatine's forgotten heritage. The statue was sculpted by artist Eric Blome in 2005. (Submitted by Pam Mace)

Had a fun day visiting the flooded Mississippi River Town. Beautiful Art Museum and Pearl Button Museum.
