Description:

The Hogback Bridge, constructed in 1884 by Harvey P. Jones and George K. Foster, utilizes the Town lattice truss with a queenpost overlay. Stretching 98 feet over North River, it stands four miles northwest of Winterset. Unlike many covered bridges named after local landowners, Hogback derives its name from the hogback ridge situated at the valley's western end, characterized by its convex curve resembling a hog's back.
