The Lincoln Monument stands proudly on Lafayette Avenue, positioned just west of Fairview Cemetery. This magnificent pylon was erected in July 1911, serving as a tribute to Abraham Lincoln's momentous visit to the site in 1859. It was at this very location that Lincoln beheld and handpicked the Eastern Terminus of the pioneering transcontinental railroad, a groundbreaking achievement in the history of the United States.
