The Sergeant Floyd Monument in Sioux City, Iowa is a towering obelisk that honors Sergeant Charles Floyd, the only member of the Lewis and Clark Expedition to die during the historic journey. Located on a bluff overlooking the Missouri River, the monument was constructed in 1901 and is recognized as the first National Historic Landmark in the United States.
