Clutter Family House

Saves: 4
Check-ins: 5
In 1959 Herb and Bonnie Clutter along with their two teenage children, were murdered by Perry Smith and Richard Hickock in this rural family home. The infamous slayings made such an impact on the country and was the basis for Truman Capote's "In Cold Blood," launching the writer to celebrity status. The 14-room farmhouse was for a short period of time a tourist attraction for the more macabre-minded and it's still pretty much in the same condition as it was at the time of the murders. Without its stigma the house is attractive albeit isolated. Today it is privately owned and closed to the public. (Submitted by LightBulb Sunset)
