The sculpture is called Frecs, but it depicts a real person who went by the name of Milbern John Busick. His nickname came from a mop of red hair and a heavy sprinkling of freckles. The 19-foot tall statue was inspired by the creator's grandfather who mined lead and zinc in the area. Most of the materials were donated to craft this giant made out of what is called "poor man's fiberglass" - a conglomeration of canvas, cloth sheets, glue, and paint.
