30-Foot-Tall Golden David Statue

A metallic replica of Michelangelo's metamorphic original was created by Turkish-born NYC artist and sculptor, Serkan Ozkaya. The giant biblical figure made its way from Istanbul to Kentucky in 2012. Its Florentine predecessor stands 17 feet high, 13 feet shorter than the Louisville version - and, of course, all other body parts are to made to scale. Although Ozkaya's reproduction is spellbindingly iridescent, it's made of fiberglass instead of marble or gold - much lighter but no less amazing. (Submitted by Anthony Von Plinsky)
