Description:

This cemetery is one of Louisville's oldest with graves dating back to the 1800s. Already a dark, depressed spot, it has an even darker reputation of defrauding mourning families. Some graves were found to hold 6 bodies and many were buried only 10 to 18 inches deep into the ground. 48,000 bodies were buried in graves already occupied. Now overrun with grass and weeds, this hauntingly beautiful graveyard is just an obscure roadside attraction.
