This 19th-century home is set on a former hemp plantation. Built and maintained with slave labor, this plantation was the home of Lucy and John Speed. The mansion features Jeffersonian architecture as the plans were taken from a design by the 3rd U.S. president. One of the most memorable events in its history is an 1841 visit by Abraham Lincoln who stayed for three weeks.
