This 170-acre botanical garden and bird sanctuary is located on Avery Island, Louisiana. Bird City, which provides roosts for snowy egrets and other species, is the primary attraction of Jungle Gardens. There are many walking paths on the island plus four miles of gravel roads with live oak trees and Spanish moss. Plants such as azaleas, Japanese camellias, hydrangeas, and many other plants can be found in Jungle Gardens which is open daily but not on major holidays.

The 300 yr old Cleveland Oak. Named after President Grover Cleveland who visited the McIlhenny family in 1891 and is said to have hugged the Live Oak tree thereby having it named after him.
