America's First Mile

This marker is the beginning of the longest north-to-south route in the U.S. It runs from this point in Fort Kent, all the way to the southernmost U.S. point, Key West, FL. It's also a very picturesque spot. The monument is on St. John River and you can easily see Canada when you look across the water. (Submitted by Route One And Beyond)
