Battleship Maine Monument

Making its home in the same town as Stephen King, this memorial marker commemorates veterans of the Spanish-American War and the loss of the USS Maine when it exploded off the coast of Cuba in 1898. It was placed in 1922 and includes some of the original pieces recovered from the wreck in the harbor of Havana. (Submitted by Shirley Beauchemin Thurston)
