Fort Knox

Built in 1844, Fort Knox is a National Historic Landmark that was in use during the Civil and the Spanish-American Wars. Its best feature is that it's one of the best-preserved forts in the U.S., with many of the original weapons. Although the fort is only open during the spring and summer, the grounds are accessible year-round.
