Fort Popham

Saves: 10
Check-ins: 2
Located at the mouth of the Kennebec River this Civil War era fort also offered minor support during the Revolution. In the 1850s, construction began in earnest. Granite blocks and 36 guns kept the fort strong. The structure is beautifully intact with green grass and picnic tables to make it a nice outing. To get there simply take 209 all the way to Popham Beach. The fort is open year-round every day from 9 AM to sunset.
