Description:
This British colonial fort was built in 1754 in use heavily during the French and Indian War. This log fort saw many notable American Revolution people including the infamous Benedict Arnold, Daniel Morgan, and Aaron Burr. Dubbed the oldest log fort in the U.S., the only original part to survive is the main building. The replica buildings as well as the surviving original are fully furnished with items that would have been used in the mid-1700s and thus gives visitors a glimpse into the lives of people in the years before the Revolution. Plan on visiting between May and October; the park is closed for the off-season.
