Maine State Building

Constructed in 1893, the Maine State Building is comprised of materials natural to its home state including granite and slate. These heavy materials were transported to Chicago where the house was built for the Chicago World's Fair that same year. Then, amazingly, the building was taken apart and carefully sent back to Maine by freight. It is one of five remaining buildings from the 1893 World's Fair.
