Built in 1854, Owls Head is still an active lighthouse. It rises 30 feet from the ground and has a focal plane height of 100 feet. Its Fresnel lens is attractively insulated in a 360° glass-enclosed chamber. Of Maine's 66 remaining lighthouses, Owls Head is one of six with an active Fresnel lens.
