This historic ice-harvesting factory has been active since 1926. Still in operation today, it also serves as a museum. They harvest the ice the old-fashioned way by cutting and scraping the nearby pond and storing the chunks in sawdust and straw. Amazingly, the ice stays frozen the entire year. This was the way of keeping things cold and making treats such as ice cream before refrigerators were widely used. Visitors will be treated to homemade ice cream made from the harvested ice.
