Description:
The bloodiest battles in the Civil War was fought on September 17, 1862, approximately 2,500 feet away from this 60-foot tower. It was built in 1897, almost entirely of stone, as a way to document and to commemorate this tragic day with 22,717 dead, wounded, or missing. There are a lot of stairs, but the view at the top is well worth the exertion.
