Dan’s Rock Overlook is a must-visit spot in Allegany County, offering some of the most breathtaking views of the Allegheny Front from the county's highest point. Named after Daniel Cresap, the eldest son of frontiersman Thomas Cresap, this overlook holds a deep historical connection. Daniel and his friend, Chief Nemacolin, explored and hunted throughout these mountains. After Daniel was injured during one of their expeditions, the mountain earned the name "Dan's Mountain."
