Fort McHenry

Saves: 11
Check-ins: 8
Surrounded by the beautiful Patapsco River, Fort McHenry wasn't always as peaceful as it is now. It was an important strategic location during the War of 1812, defending Baltimore Harbor from the powerful British Navy. It was said to have inspired Francis Scott Key's poem "The Star Spangled Banner," thus being the origin of the U.S.A.'s national anthem. It has been used for defense during unstable times up to World War II, but today is mainly a recreational park. A nicely maintained trail and a nearby aquarium ensure that visitors will have plenty of activities.
