Wartime nowadays calls for journalists who are brave enough to report back to civilians in real time. However, war correspondents have always been around, although their messages weren't as instantaneous as they are today. Civil War correspondent George Townsend built the Gathland State Park memorial arch in 1896 and it was dedicated later that same year.
