Description:
Ammidown Castle in Southbridge, Massachusetts is a grand Federal style mansion built in 1825 by local entrepreneur Ebenezer D. Ammidown, and its size made it the largest residence in town, earning it the enduring nickname Ammidown Castle. After Ebenezer’s death in 1865, the property passed through his heirs and later into the Dresser family before becoming a community cultural site in the late 20th century. Today it stands as one of Southbridge’s most historic homes and a landmark reflecting the early 19th century prominence of the Ammidown family in the region.
