Named after James Naismith, the inventor of basketball, this museum commemorates coaches and players who have made the sport one of the most famous in the world. The Hall of Fame was established in 1956 sans physical location. More than 10 years later, in 1968, construction was completed on its first location. In 2002 it moved to its current location built by Gwathmey Siegel and Associates. The modern building features a spherical dome resembling a basketball. Perhaps the most well-known inductees were on the 1992 Olympics team known forever as "The Dream Team" who went undefeated for the entire summer. (Submitted by Shirley Beauchemin Thurston)
